What We Clean and Check.

A gutter clean is the easy part. The value is in looking at the roof while we are up there, before a small problem becomes a leak.

Gutter Cleaning

Leaves, sludge, seed pods and built up debris cleared from every gutter run, bagged and taken away.

Downpipes Cleared

Each downpipe checked for flow and cleared where it is blocked, so water leaves the roof instead of backing up into the eaves.

Valleys and Box Gutters

Roof valleys and the box gutters on townhouses, strata and commercial roofs cleared. This is where the worst overflows start.

Roof Inspection

Tiles, ridge and hip capping, pointing, valleys and flashings checked for the cracks, slips and gaps that let water in.

Photos of What We Find

Before and after photos of the gutters, plus anything on the roof that needs attention, sent to you with the findings.

Storm and Leak Checks

After a big storm or a new ceiling stain, we check the roof and gutters for the cause and tell you what it will take to fix.

Signs Your Gutters Need Clearing.

Most people find out their gutters are full in the first heavy storm. These are the signs worth a call before it.

Overflowing in Heavy Rain

Water spilling over the front of the gutter instead of running to the downpipe. The most common sign of a full gutter.

Plants Growing in the Gutter

Grass or seedlings along the roofline means soil and leaf litter have been sitting there for a while.

Stains on the Eaves or Fascia

Dark streaks or peeling paint under the gutter line, where water has been running over the back of the gutter.

Water Pooling Below

Puddles, washed out garden beds or damp walls under a gutter that should be carrying that water away.

Sagging or Pulling Away

A full gutter is heavy. Brackets bend and the gutter drops away from the fascia.

Ceiling Stains Near an Outside Wall

A damp patch close to an external wall can be water backing up from a blocked gutter into the roof space.

Honest limits: we clean, clear and inspect. We do not replace guttering or downpipes, do roof plumbing or metal flashing fabrication, or provide pre-purchase building reports or insurance assessments. If the inspection finds the need for one of those, we say so in writing and point you to the right licensed trade.

What a Roof Inspection Covers.

Most roof leaks start small and out of sight. A roof inspection from Blox looks at the whole roof, not just what you can see from the ground, and records what is sound and what is not.

  • Broken, cracked and slipped tiles
  • Ridge and hip capping, bedding and pointing
  • Valleys, flashings and the seals around vents and skylights
  • Gutters, downpipes and where the water overflows
  • Photos and written findings, with a quote for any repairs

How Often Should Gutters Be Cleaned?

It depends on the trees around the roof more than anything else.

  1. Under gum trees or big trees

Every three to six months. Gum leaves, bark and seed pods fill a gutter fast.

  2. Open blocks, few trees

Once a year is usually enough.

  3. Before storm season

Late spring, before the summer storms, is the time to have them cleared.

  4. Bushfire prone areas

Clear them before the fire season. Dry leaves in a gutter can catch embers.

Your quote depends on the height and pitch of the roof, the length of gutter, how full it is, the number of downpipes and any box gutters. We look first, then quote in writing.
